Best Luxury Watches From the 2025 Met Gala

The Met Gala, hosted annually on the first Monday in May by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, has rightfully been dubbed the biggest night in fashion. The exclusive, invite-only event draws in the rich and famous from around the globe. These A-listers descend on New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the theme reflects a current exhibit at the museum’s renowned Costume Institute (which the gala is a fundraiser for”). This year’s theme? “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

The exhibit drew its inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity as well as Zora Neale Hurston’s 1934 essay “Characteristics of Negro Expression” and is organized into twelve sections that represent the twelve characteristics Hurston outlines. This thought-provoking theme for the 77th Met Gala is resonant for numerous reasons, including but not limited to its juxtaposition with the current political state of the U.S. Additionally, it is the first theme focused on menswear in over 20 years.

In addition to the symbolism and importance of the Met Gala’s annual theme, this charity event is widely considered one of the year’s top occasions to check out revelatory celebrity outfits that often determine trends for the next 12 months. From designer dresses and suits to luxury watches, these outfits are eye-catching (and expensive) to the max. Let’s take a closer look at what 2025’s tastemakers wore to this year’s Met Gala…

The dress code for the 2025 Met Gala was simply described as “tailored to you.” But how did the 450 celebrity attendees in question embrace or diverge from that theme? Some of the top trends this year included vertical stripes (including but not limited to pinstripes), derby hats, ice blue hues, and – of course – suiting-inspired styles. We also noticed a resurgence of shoulder pads (hello there, 1980s) and extravagant brooches. The no-pants trend was also alive and well, with pop star Sabrina Carpenter and others showing off legs for days in leotard-style ensembles.

Accessories of all different kinds battled for attention this year. After all, nobody wants to show up in a basic suit to the Met Gala, of all places! And as everyone knows, every suit needs a perfect watch to complete the look. Designer watches abounded this year, and we’re going to highlight a few of our favorite options that you might just want to add to your own collection.

We see great watches at every Met Gala, but 2025’s menswear-oriented theme was particularly well-suited (no pun intended) to our favorite accessories. Even more than usual, we noticed a broad swath of head-turning timepieces that are sure to skyrocket in popularity over the next few weeks. Let’s take a look at the highlight reel…

It’s hard to choose a “top watch” from the 2025 Met Gala’s impressive collection of options… but there was one piece that had clearly piqued the interest of a few different attendees. We’re talking about the mini Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, which perfectly complemented two of our favorite athletes’ haute couture looks. Both tennis great Serena Williams and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles showed off this chic, petite silhouette with a frosted watch that perfectly encapsulated the clean lines and high-drama looks of the 2025 Met Gala.

A gold brocade three-piece suit like the one that Henry Golding rocked at this year’s Met Gala demands an iconic watch to go with it… and in that area, we can say Golding passed with flying colors. His gorgeous yellow gold Cartier Tank à Guichet was released under a month ago at the 2025 Watches and Wonders event in Geneva, Switzerland. All we can say is… props to his stylist for absolutely nailing this look. Talk about a memorable watch!

It’s no surprise that Pharrell Williams made the list of the best-dressed celebs on the red carpet at the Met Gala. He was a co-chair of the event, along with Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Colman Domingo – and both his pearl Louis Vuitton jacket and his iconic Richard Mille watch made a statement. Williams has been a Richard Mille partner for a while, so it shouldn’t be a shock that he wore one of the brand’s exceptional, innovative creations to this celebration of Black style. His watch of choice was reportedly the RM 74-02, which has a similar bezel style to the tiger’s eye look of this RM 037. Instead of the classic rubber strap, Williams gave his watch an upgrade with an open-link gold bracelet.

With a beret, a sequin-studded velvet blazer, and a gigantic diamond chain around his neck, Jalen Hurts elevated his heartthrob status tenfold. This was Hurts’ first Met Gala, but from his impeccable styling, you’d never know that. The quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles already took home a Super Bowl ring in 2025 and (to the despair of women everywhere) just confirmed his marriage with wife Bry Burrows… so it’s safe to say this year is shaping up to be a good one for him. Plus, he clearly has an awesome watch collection. Hurts showed off a gorgeous, ice blue Breitling Navitimer with three chronograph dials that perfectly complemented his otherwise black-and-white look.

Everyone loves an OMEGA Speedmaster “Moonwatch” – but there’s nothing like an unreleased version of this iconic timepiece to make heads turn on the red carpet. One of the four co-chairs of the event (along with Pharrell Williams), Colman Domingo showcased a few different looks as he mingled and stunned in the Met. He paired his “Moonshine gold” Speedmaster with a patterned blazer complete with a large floral decoration, a silky polka-dot tie, and a host of shimmering jewelry and other accessories that made him a definitive contender for the belle of the ball. While you can’t purchase the one-of-a-kind OMEGA that Domingo showed off on May 5, you can evoke his style with another iconic Speedmaster that’s sure to stand the test of time.

Domingo wasn’t the only one embracing the look of a classic Moonwatch. Barry Keoghan also rocked a Speedmaster in Moonshine Gold, although his watch is available to the general public. One thing’s for sure: the Speedmaster is a watch to watch this year.

American rapper and activist Pusha T isn’t the first celebrity to showcase the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in its gorgeous rainbow form (football stars Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes have both worn this watch too), but he might be the one who wore it best. Paired with an iced-out maroon pinstripe suit, there’s no shortage of sparkle in Pusha T’s look… and that’s how we like it. While many watches at the Met Gala are provided to celebs by the brands themselves, Pusha T’s rainbow Daytona is a watch he actually owns.

If you haven’t heard Shaboozey’s #1 hit “A Bar Song,” have you been living under a rock?! This American rapper, singer, and songwriter also made his Met Gala debut in 2025… and we’re so glad he did. He took his tailored suit to another level with strings of turquoise and even decked out his teeth with a turquoise grill. Obviously, he needed a turquoise watch to complete the look… and this unusual Audemars Piguet Royal Oak fit the bill. There’s no question that Shaboozey’s look will inspire turquoise lovers to fall head over heels with this gorgeous piece.

While he might not be a household name in the USA (yet), Bollywood’s Shah Rukh Khan showed us all who’s king at the 2025 Met Gala. He carried a staff (some might even call it a sceptre) topped with a bejeweled tiger’s head. But a different one of his accessories caught our eye: the Patek Philippe Grand Complications watch strapped to his wrist.
