Avi & Co. Took on Miami’s Art Basel 2023
From December 8th – 10th 2023, Art Basel took place in Miami, Florida. In its 21st year, Art Basel is North America’s most comprehensive international art fair. Thousands of artists, dealers, collectors, and aficionados from all over the world were drawn to Miami’s modern and contemporary art that lined 277 galleries.
Avi was eager to be a part of this year’s Miami Art Basel. “I think it was important to be involved because a lot of our clients were around. Everyone was in celebration mode, drinking and shopping. I wanted to be a part of that.”
The original Art Basel event bloomed in Basel, Switzerland in 1970. It was created by Swiss gallerists Ernst Beyeler, Trudl Bruckner, and Balz Hilt. They hoped to inspire a new wave of art buyers and collectors. To say it was a success would be an understatement, as more than 16,000 people were in attendance at their inaugural event.
When it expanded internationally and moved to Miami in the early 2000s, the crowd sizes almost doubled. Art Basel Miami Beach provided a glamour that only Miami could showcase. Art enthusiasts had the opportunity to enjoy a sun-drenched vacation with an array of art, celebrations, and high-scale events.
Many celebrities showed up for Avi at his VIP event at the Miami boutique – basketball player John Wall, Brooklyn Johnny, CEO of Gopuff Rafael Ilishayev, David Grutman, and many entrepreneurs including Isabela Grutman herself. Before the boutique closed, DJ Khaled passed by, and Avi was grateful for the support.
To Avi’s surprise, Nicky Jam was the first person to purchase the latest Avi & Co. 40 mm Rose Gold Frosted Watch. “Nicky Jam is like my brother,” Avi says. “He’s always supporting me. He was actually at the store the day before. He told me he was going to come back and buy my watch. Who is the Woman Behind Isa Grutman Jewelry?
Isabela Rangel Grutman is an international model, global philanthropist, style influencer, and entrepreneur. She was born and raised in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and she currently resides in Miami, Florida with her two daughters and husband.
You may have heard of her husband, Dave Grutman, often referred to as ‘The King of Florida’. With his current 1 million followers on social media, Grutman is the owner and partner of several Miami-based restaurants and nightclubs. He opened The Swan and Bar Bevy with partner Pharrell.

At the soft opening of Isa Grutman’s jewelry launch at Avi & Co., she was able to share her jewelry with all the invited guests. “I think Isabella has great taste in jewelry and fashion,” Avi says. “She’s somebody I’ve been following on social media for a while now. I’ve always liked the way she comes up with her jewelry ideas. As soon as I had the opportunity to share that I was interested in being an authorized dealer for her jewelry collection, she really liked the idea.”
The partnership between Avi and Isabela came about organically. “I was with David [Grutman]. I asked him about Isabela’s jewelry, and he told me to call him tomorrow. I called him the next day, and he put me in touch with Isabela. After that, Isabela came to visit me. I showed her the store, we talked, and that was it.” Avi ordered her whole catalog, and it was delivered to Miami’s boutique right before Art Basel.
“Isa Grutman Jewelry started with a vision, a dream, and a passion,” Isabela’s website states. “I am thankful to be able to create jewelry that makes people feel and look beautiful.”
Isabela’s story is reminiscent of Avi’s in that they both had a vision and a dream to do something they were passionate about, and they didn’t let anything stop them. As an immigrant from Israel, Avi grew his empire from the bottom up. This partnership symbolizes that no matter where you come from, you can achieve the world.
Avi & Co. has created custom jewelry for celebrities, but this partnership allows the company to showcase another jewelry brand. When I asked Avi what this means to him and his company, he said, “It means that a lot of people have a lot of different ideas about fashion, and I think they want to extend and become more involved in many other companies and start something new. This is a whole collection of delicate jewelry, and I really like her creativity.”
