We The Best Golf Classic Recap: Milestone Birthdays and Luxury Watches

For a handful of elite South Floridians, DJ Khaled’s annual We The Best Foundation golf tournament is a staple of the social calendar. But this time around, the event is extra special, as it commemorates the milestone 50th birthdays of Khaled and his wife, Nicole Tuck. Avi & Co. was lucky enough to have eyes on the scene.

Our founder and CEO, Avi Hiaeve, has a longtime friendship with DJ Khaled, who has been a devoted customer of Avi & Co. watches for years. Khaled is a known collector of luxury timepieces, and his collection includes an incredible swath of watches from household names like Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, and others. Hiaeve was thrilled to show up for and support his friend Khaled throughout the festivities in Miami over the past few days. From golf to galas, there were plenty of star-studded moments.

Today, we are taking a behind-the-scenes look into the We The Best Foundation Golf Classic as well as the surrounding VIP events celebrating DJ Khaled and Nicole Tuck’s 50th birthdays. Buckle up for two days’ worth of A-list entertainment.

Dubbed “We The Best Weekend,” DJ Khaled’s annual December event takes place over two days in Miami, Florida. The flagship event is a golf tournament held at the prestigious Miami Beach Golf Club on Alton Road. This year, the event had a record turnout, as 180 avid golfers teed up to compete for a good cause. Friendly competition is par for the course, but so is charitable impact. At the event’s close, a meaningful $30,000 donation was made to the Fore Life Foundation, which uses the sport of golf to empower vulnerable youth across the nation.

Although the upscale golf tournament was primarily held on Thursday, December 4, festivities began the night prior, on December 3. The celebration kicked off at 7:00 p.m. with a VIP Reception and Auction that took place at Miami’s famous Casadonna, which offers a vibrant dining experience full of Mediterranean flavors and waterfront views. Then, at 10 p.m., the restaurant hosted a joint birthday celebration for Khaled and Tuck.

DJ Khaled’s We The Best Weekend has been a staple of the Miami social scene since the inaugural golf tournament in July 2023. Also held at Miami Beach Golf Club, that event was similarly populated by plenty of A-listers and made important philanthropic contributions. Like this year’s tournament, the inaugural event included a night-before dinner and silent auction. It culminated in a $20,000 donation to the Fore Life Foundation and a $10,000 donation to the Circle of Brotherhood, a Miami-based nonprofit committed to community service, youth mentorship, and crime prevention involving young Black men from underserved areas of Miami.

As you can see, the We The Best Golf Classic and its surrounding festivities have a twofold purpose. Of course, uniting in service of sportsmanship and a great day of golf is exciting in and of itself. That said, doing so for a greater cause adds to the appeal. The combination of celebrity hype, exclusive music performances, excellent golfing, and charitable impact is what makes the We The Best Golf Classic such a memorable and anticipated event each year.

These are just a small sampling of the celebrities who were thrilled to attend We The Best Weekend. Many of these players then competed for a major prize for charity during Thursday’s Golf Classic event. The starting gun went off at 10 a.m., and the tournament wrapped up and awarded prizes around 3:30 p.m.

DJ Khaled’s We The Best Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization that is all about enriching the lives of the next generation, from youth into a productive adulthood. Khaled is passionate about the nonprofit’s goal of supporting young people in underserved communities. We The Best Foundation works toward aiding local young people as they grow up to be the best versions of themselves. As part of this work, the foundation is engaged in many local causes, including an annual scholarship fund available to one high school senior each year who is graduating from a Miami-Dade County public school.

Khaled and his family are proud of their Miami area roots, and they are invested in supporting after school programs, youth music initiatives, and STEAM organizations in their area. The We The Best Weekend events are all about giving back, which is a strong part of Khaled’s ethos. He has even passed this passion onto his children, and his older son Asahd (born in 2016) is known for using his birthday each year as an opportunity to create opportunities for underserved young people to celebrate themselves and their accomplishment.
