Watches Spotted at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival

Every May, movie stars and celebrities from around the world congregate in the beautiful French Riviera for the renowned Cannes Film Festival. Like so many red carpet events, Cannes is a hotbed of incredible fashion and head-turning style. This prestigious event attracts the best of the best, and the watches spotted here in Southern France echo that sentiment.

We kept our eyes trained on the A-listers showing off their chic attire while celebrating directorial debuts and hot film releases in Cannes. Our goal? Catching sight of the luxury watches that these tastemakers chose to highlight at this ritzy celebration. Now, we are sharing our findings with you. At this year’s Cannes Film Festival, which Tom Cruise attended for the premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the actor turned heads in a chic all-burgundy outfit and silver aviator sunglasses. But the true star of the show was his rare Rolex watch, a 40 mm Day Date crafted from 18K white gold and featuring a unique meteorite dial.

This is not the first time that Cruise has shown off his preference for all things unusual. Back in 2023, GQ photographed Cruise wearing a Rolex Daytona with a similar meteorite face and a black rubber strap. At the Cannes Film Festival premiere of the much-anticipated film Eddington from production company A24, Austin Butler showed off a unique timepiece: a Breitling Chronomat. Breitling is known for its aviation-inspired watches, many of which offer oversize faces. The stainless steel Chronomat pictured above, for instance, measures a substantial 44 mm.

Butler’s Chronomat, however, was just 32 mm in diameter and showed off an off-white dial and a stainless steel bracelet. He paired this petite watch with a double-breasted tux complete with satin notched lapels. In contrast to the price tags of six- and seven-figure watches like Jeremy Strong’s flat-faced Richard Mille, the Breitling Chronomat 32 retails around just $4,500. In other words, Butler’s watch of choice emphasizes the trend toward smaller watch faces for men and evidences that watches of many different price points can look equally refined and elegant.

Italian actor and director Pierfrancesco Favino might not be a household name in the United States, but the gorgeous watch he wore to the 2025 Cannes Film Festival certainly is. And frankly, we think Favino should get more coverage in U.S. style mags for his timeless and distinctly European looks this year in Cannes. Of course, tastemaker A$AP Rocky could not rock just any Patek Philippe watch to the Cannes Film Festival. Paired with his crisp, white Miu Miu suit, A$AP Rocky turned heads in a Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800, a slimmer version of the classic Nautilus line.
