ABOUT SUBMARINER:

In 1953, the Submariner was the first divers’ watch with a water resistance of 330 feet. This feat surpassed the world’s first waterproof wristwatch, the Oyster, from 1926. The Submariner was introduced to help divers and their underwater escapades. Its Chromalight display ensures visibility in dark environments. Hour markers are also featured in different shapes to prevent any confusion while underwater. The 60-minute graduation allows divers to monitor diving time and decompression stops in a safe way. The scratchproof, prevention against ultraviolet rays and chlorinated water is what made the Submariner the perfect watch for deep-sea exploration.

The Submariner’s rotating bezel allows divers to read their immersion time. A robust and comfortable bracelet allows for comfortable wear, and the oysterlock safety clasp helps to prevent accidental opening while underwater. The watch can be worn comfortably over a diving suit, allowing for better visibility.

When the Submariner collection was released, it was an immediate success, especially with diving professionals who were testing the brand. Today, the Submariner has a water resistance of 1,000 feet; this allows for optimal protection from water, dust, pressure, and shocks.

The Submariner has a self-winding 3230 calibre, while the Submariner Date is equipped with a 3235 calibre.
With its constant revolution, the Submariner has gone through enhancements in waterproofness, strength, and functionality. When it was equipped with a crown guard, the case grew from 38 to 40 mm, and then 41 mm in 2020.
